WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) allows you to access a wireless WiFi network without having to type in the network name or password.

To use the Netgear EX8000 Setup installation assistant, you must first open a web browser on your computer or mobile device.

Method of the WPS

WPS Setup for Netgear X6S AC3000 (EX8000):

  • Link your X6S AC3000 EX8000 WiFi range extender to the internet.
  • Place your WiFi extender near your router.
  • Connect your extender to a power outlet.
  • Wait for the EX8000 Power LED to turn orange.
  • On the extender, press the WPS button.
  • If the EX8000 Connection Status LED is lit white, your router and extender are linked properly.
  • The EX8000 Extender Link Status LED will light up blue. Shift the extender closer to the router and try again if the Connection Status LED turns amber or red.
  • Change the position of your extender.
  • Bring your WiFi-enabled machine or mobile device to an area where the Netgear Extender Setup coverage is low.
  • Connect the expanded network with your WiFi-enabled machine or mobile device.

Manually setup the AC3000 X6S

To set up a Netgear EX8000 manually with the help of the installation assistant, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your X6S AC3000 EX8000 extender is turned on.
  • Place your WiFi Netgear EX8000 Extender near your router.
  • Connect your extender to a power outlet.
  • Connect the extender to your router.
  • Enter mywifiext.net into a web browser on a computer or mobile device.
  • On the phone, the NETGEAR installation assistant appears.
  • Link your extender to your current WiFi network by following the prompts.
  • Change the position of your extender.
  • If you’re having trouble linking, shift the extender closer to your router and try again before the Connection Status LED turns white.
  • Link your client computers to the EX8000 Extender WiFi network after you’ve found the right place for your extender.
